Housing Application Deadline: Reminder

Changes to the Housing Allocations Policy will come into effect on the 29^th April 2013.  If you’re currently in Bands A-C please complete the online form and return any additional documentation by 26 April 2013.

If we do not receive the requested information by Friday 26^th April, your Housing Application will be suspended and you will not be able to bid.

Welcome to On The Move, Southend-on-Sea Borough Council's Choice Based Lettings scheme for allocating council and partner housing association properties for rent in the Borough.

On The Move allows you to bid for properties that you would like to live in, by advertising available social housing in the borough.

You may only bid for a property if your application has been accepted onto our Homeseekers' Register. If you are not currently on our Homeseekers' Register, you can download an application form by clicking on the Forms and Information link.

Important Information - Please Note

• When you are looking at property adverts it is important to read the Further Information section as this will state criteria which may make you ineligible for this property e.g. age / household size. Also, some Housing Associations who advertise through the scheme have differing criteria for who is eligible to move into their properties. If you have any questions about this information please contact us to discuss.
• If you log in and see a message that you are not eligible for any properties, this is specific for that cycle only and is because there are no properties available that are the size you require. There is nothing wrong with your application.  To check this, you can search for all properties, where you will be able to see the bedroom size of those being advertised.
• Please note that the position message which states how many people are above you for a particular property you are eligible for or have bid upon is only intended as a guide.
• When placing bids please make sure you are aware of the property's location by using the Show on Map facility which can be found by clicking on the link to the right of the property photo. 
• If you have placed a bid and are shortlisted, but we are unable to make contact with you within 48 hours of the bidding cycle closing, you may be skipped and lose out on an offer. You must ensure your contact details are up to date - if you do not have a telephone number yourself, then please provide one for someone who can contact you immediately.
• YOU DO NOT NEED to stay up for Midnight on Wednesdays - priority is not awarded on a first come first served basis.  The bidding cycle is from 00:01hrs Wednesday through to 23:59hrs on Sunday, and you can bid anytime during that period.  Shortlisting is based on the Band and effective date of applicants and not when the bid is placed.
